About me
Background
My name is Suzanne Cathro and I am a Digital Media & Interaction Design student at Edinburgh Napier University. In my fourth and final year, I have decided to push the limits of my knowledge and personal development by designing products that will be beneficial for South African society.
I have been very lucky to be awarded the Small project and Mobility Grant by Edinburgh Napier University to help me realise this dream. Without them this would not possible financially and I hope you will agree after looking through the site that every penny was worth it!
The Project
Incorporating young disabled learners at Mason Lincoln Special school in Umlazi township, South Africa, An animation will be produced exploring the cultural traditions of the Zulu people. By teaching children basics of animation and storytelling I will be facilitating the creation of their own culturally relevant story. This will be captured using motion capture software that will accurately record movement.
It is the hope that these young people will use this experience to showcase their culture and gain a sense of pride in their achievements.
